About Author
Tanaporn Vilailaks, known as Kwun, started her career in cake artistry in her native Thailand. Her brand, Butter & Blossoms, is a well-recognized name among cake enthusiasts on social media. She started her career with a degree in Architecture, majoring in Industrial Design, from KMITL. After a brief stint as a graphic designer, she discovered her passion for pâtisserie, prompting her to open her own shop, Modern Cake, in 2005. Kwun pursued a Pâtisserie Diploma from Le Cordon Bleu in 2008. From then, she began offering custom cakes for special occasions and supplying to various coffee shops in Bangkok under her café, Modern Cake.
Kwun’s specialty lies in flower sculpture painting using buttercream and chocolate cream, a signature technique she self-taught and perfected since 2017. Her unique style has garnered international attention, leading her to conduct workshops in over 15 countries around the world. She officially launched her artwork on Instagram and Facebook under “Butter & Blossoms” in 2015, initially showcasing her piping flower techniques.
As her follower base grew, she began posting short clips of her work process, particularly her palette knife art, which gained immense interest. Since then, she has been teaching private and online classes, gradually turning her passion into a successful career. In 2018, she established her own teaching studio in Bangkok, called the Butter & Blossoms studio, further solidifying her reputation as a revered cake decorator.
